Kirby Hall has initiated a new program to revitalize its Middle School
while offering a truly unique experience to academically-motivated students who may have never
considered pursuing a private school education.
This program is called the ‘Open Door’ campaign.
“During the past 45 years since opening the doors to Kirby Hall, we have had a long-standing
tradition of serving the Austin community,” says Kirby Hall School’s Executive Director Helen
Roberts. “We would like to continue to do so by offering the opportunity of an exceptional private
school and inclusive education to any child who is enthusiastic about learning regardless of their
financial standing.”
The Open Door campaign will provide full tuition scholarships for students seeking admissions to
the middle school program. For the upcoming 2022-2023 school year, the program will kick off
with ten scholarships available to those applying for sixth grade on a first-come basis.
To be eligible for the scholarships, students must meet standard admissions criteria and
demonstrate that they are academically suited to the advanced curriculum.
All application, enrollment, facilities, and tuition fees will be covered by Kirby Hall for the entirety of
the 2022-2023 school year, as well as for the subsequent two middle school years (seventh and
eighth grades) if a student elects to stay enrolled.
This amounts to a more than $55,000 value in learning for the three years.
The hallmarks of a Kirby Hall education include:
- Small class sizes, affording individualized attention as well as opportunities for independent
study - An accelerated curriculum so students are successfully prepared for high school, AP-level
coursework, or earning advanced college credits if they choose - Participation in STEM-inspired activities through MakerSpace time and electives, in addition
to the traditional curriculum of English, Mathematics, Science, History, Spanish, Physical
Education, Drama, and Art - Dedication to community service
- Participation in Middle School Enrichment Fridays to encourage thinking outside of the
classroom through a variety of guest speakers, field trips, and special hands-on projects - Learning about the importance of serving others, and above all else, how to treat everyone
with kindness, humility, and respect
Kirby Hall School admits students of any race, color, nationality, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic
status, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities
accorded or made available to students at the school and in the administration of its educational
policies, scholarship programs, athletics, and other school-administered programs.
